The Uasin Gishu County Department of Education is set to carry out a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) exercise, focusing on quality assurance and standards in the implementation of its projects and programs across the County.
The County Education Chief Officer (CO), Eunice Suter, says the exercise was to gauge the efficiency of the projects in the education sector.
“The exercise is aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in all departmental projects,” said the CO during a meeting with Early Child Development Education (ECDE) Coordinators, who will take part in the process.
While emphasizing the importance of the initiative, Ms. Suter said that Monitoring and Evaluation were critical tools for success, as they ensured that initiatives remained on course, resources were properly utilized, and intended outcomes were achieved, which, in the long run, built trust with citizens.
She also revealed that, through partnerships with the Nairobi-based Business Incubator Hub and the Education Empowerment for Rural and Urban Slum Initiative (EERUi), the Department has organized capacity-building sessions for coordinators, to enhance digital learning solutions and child care for ECDE learners.
The County Director for Education, Peter Ruto, reiterated that the monitoring and evaluation exercise is not just a technical process; it reflects the responsibility of the County government to its people. “We want every resident to feel the impact of good governance on the ground,” he said.
The exercise is also part of preparations for the signing of performance contracts, aimed at improving efficiency in project implementation and enhancing service delivery, he added.
