Shabana to host Tanzania’s Pamba Jiji in a friendly fixture

By M, KNA

Shabana FC is set to host Tanzania Premier League side Pamba Jiji FC in a friendly match scheduled for September 7 at the Gusii stadium.

The match will be part of an event dubbed Shabana Day that will celebrate the club’s identity and raise funds to support the team’s activities ahead of the new season.

According to Shabana’s Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama, the event will be an opportunity for fans to meet and interact with the players, technical bench and the larger football community.

“The SportsPesa sponsorship of Sh25 million every year is not enough to run the club’s activities and therefore, we will use the Shabana Day to collect additional fans to boost our team’s morale,” said Kerama.

He lauded President William Ruto for pledging to give the team a modern bus, adding that it would improve the players welfare by easing their mode of transport.

The Glamour Boys have signed three new players to boost the squad in the coming season including midfielders Biron Otieno and David Odoyo from Kariobangi Sharks and Tusker FC respectively, and forward Humphrey Obino from Murang’a Seal.

Austine Odongo and Brian Michira who joined Harambee Stars for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) competitions have also resumed training with the team following the completion of the tournament.

Shabana will begin the season with a home game against newly-promoted side APS Bomet on September 21.
