Bungoma county is set to host this years’ International day for older person’s celebrations on Friday, October.
The national event to be held at Musese in Bungoma Central Sub-County, aims at promoting sustainable and equitable care for the elders, as part of our heritage and living treasures.
The ceremony reflects on the efforts put in by the older person according to Bungoma County Co-coordinator for Social Development, Eliud Ondara, who confirmed that preparations for the day were complete.
Ondara said at least 2,000 older persons were expected to attend the event, adding that the organizer will use the occasion to create awareness to the public on older people as participating members of the society, alongside bringing out their dignity and security in life.
The coordinator said that older persons play a great role in society and that being the roots of the community it was important that society fully takes care of them to add more days into their life.
The theme of the day is: Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action-Our aspirations, Our well-being, Our Rights.”
