Vihiga County registered a strong performance at the 2025 Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games held in Siaya County, earning top positions in both sporting and cultural categories.
The county’s ladies’ handball team delivered a stellar display, emerging overall champions after overcoming tough competition from teams across the country.
The men’s handball team also put up an impressive fight, securing third place in their category.
In the cultural segment, the Vihiga County choir showcased exceptional artistry in the own composition category, earning third position among dozens of competing choirs.
The KICOSCA Games, held annually, brings together county governments from across Kenya to compete in various sporting and cultural activities.
The event aims to promote national cohesion, nurture talent, enhance cultural exchange, and encourage physical fitness among county staff.
The 2025 edition attracted thousands of participants, making it one of the biggest inter-county gatherings of the year.
County Executive Committee Member for Gender Culture Youth Sports and Social Services Ruth Agesa and other county officials lauded the teams for their determination, discipline and teamwork, noting that the results reflect Vihiga’s growing investment in sports and cultural development.
