Bondo lands registrar Ogise Atuti is facing arrest and possible prosecution for ignoring a litany of court orders that require him to produce documents used to generate alleged fake title deeds in the region to the area DCIO.
The National Council on the Administration of Justice(NCAJ) chairman Judge Alfred Mabeya has instructed Bondo court to issue summons to Ogise to appear in court next week failure to which he be arrested for obstructing justice.
Judge Mabeya who visited Bondo law courts spoke during a court users committee meeting where he responded to complaints from the DCIO’s office regarding Ogise who has failed to comply with six court orders frustrating their efforts to investigate fraudulent land acquisition cases in the region.
Mabeya observed that the actions by the lands registrar amounts to blocking of justice to the public which in itself is an illegality.
He further directed all courts in Siaya county namely Ukwala,Siaya, Bondo and Madiany to expedite the determination of land cases especially those dealing in successions saying such cases are used by unscrupulous surveyors working in cahoots with rogue lands officers to swindle the public.
According to records at the DCIOs office, a total of six court orders have been issued to Mr Ogise between April to October 2025 asking him to provide certified documents used to generated a number of questionable title deeds in court but the lands registrar has remained unresponsive.
Area DCIO Mr Reuben Onchoka is currently handling a land case number E080/2025 where a family in central Sakwa is embroiled in a land tussle after two new titles 4939 and 4940 on their land were generated by the lands registrar without their consent.
In a letter seen by the Kenya News Agency dated 29th October 2025 addressed to Bondo court prosecutors, the area DCIO had requested the prosecutor to apply for contempt of court by Mr Ogise but the same has not been implemented one month down the lane.
When contacted for comment through a phone call, he failed to explain why he has not obeyed the court orders but insinuated that he was not in a position to respond on cases which started long before he was posted to Bondo as a lands registrar.
Reports at the Bondo law court indicate that a significant number of criminal cases handled by the court in the region have their genesis in unresolved or poor resolved land cases.
