Residents of Chebwagan, Kericho County, have urged political leaders to prioritize development projects that directly benefit the community.
Led by Donald Chelule, an aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA) for the area, residents expressed concerns that elected leaders have focused on national politics at the expense of serving their constituents.
Speaking at a fundraiser at Chebwagan Primary School, Chelule highlighted that despite the county being endowed with agricultural resources, particularly tea, roads remain impassable.
He noted that tea farmers incur significant losses when green tea leaves cannot be delivered to collection centers due to poor road infrastructure.
Chelule emphasized that both Members of Parliament and the County Government are responsible for ensuring residents have access to essential government services.
Gideon Kiprono, a local resident, added that the last-mile electricity connectivity program should be extended to reach far-flung areas, noting that livelihoods have significantly improved in already connected communities.
