The County Government of Bomet, through the Department of Lands, Housing and Urban Planning, in collaboration with Bomet Municipality has commenced demolition of illegal structures being developed within Bomet Municipality.
This exercise is part of an ongoing effort to uphold proper urban planning, maintain the town’s development standards and ensure that all activities operate smoothly within designated zones.
County officials noted that the demolition exercise underscores the commitment by the County Government of Bomet to promote organized and sustainable urban development by enforcing urban planning regulations and ensuring that all upcoming structures follow the approved procedures.
Amidst the demolitions, the department urged all developers and residents to seek proper approvals before initiating any construction works to avert losses occasioned by demolition of illegal structures around the municipality.
According to the County Executive committee member for Lands, Housing and Urban planning Joseph Kirui, this exercise will be conducted in Sotik municipality as well as other towns with illegal structures across Bomet County.
He urged members of the public to bear with the decision and support the county government in ensuring that all the towns are properly planned, with structures erected according to the regulations and plan approvals for posterity.
