County intensifies SHA registration to boost quality healthcare access

Uasin Gishu County is intensifying efforts to ensure all residents benefit from affordable and accessible healthcare through the Social Health Authority (SHA).

County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Joseph Lagat emphasized that SHA is a lifeline for everyone and urged residents to register and fully utilize services available at the county health facilities.

Speaking during a strategic meeting with officers in-charge of health facilities, Lagat encouraged them to actively sensitise communities, stating, “Every facility must maximise SHA claims and have a clear annual work plan in place.”

Echoing the call, Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health, Dr. Paul Wangwe, directed facilities to establish SHA registration desks to ensure a smooth enrollment process.

He assured that SHA will improve service quality and revealed that plans are underway to accredit facilities to international standards based on their specialised services.

“This is a step toward strengthening our healthcare system and delivering maximum value to our people,” Dr Wangwe said.

In his remarks, Director of Health Services, Dr Evans Kiprotich, noted that the county’s SHA initiative marks a critical milestone in the journey toward achieving universal health coverage.
