“We are beneficiaries of raw materials from Kirinyaga County, thus we decided to come and give back to the society by giving flour,” he said.
Gitiye said the company donated Sh 20 million to the National Covid response team and were now giving additional 550 bales of maize flour to each of the ten counties to benefit.
County Executive member for Agriculture Jackline Njogu while receiving the flour on behalf of the Governor lauded the company kind gesture adding that the donation will go a long way to cautioning the vulnerable people in the County.
“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, even families who were able to provide for themselves before have now turned vulnerable due to loss of jobs and closure of small business,” Njogu said.
Njogu further said the flour is a big boost to what the County has been doing by distributing food across all the sub-counties.
She said they were yet to get to the wards and with the food they would continue with the programme and ensure that all those affected would benefit.
“We have a list of the needy people in our wards and we thank the company for considering us and we want to assure them that the food will go to those on our list who have not yet received food from the county government” ”She said
