Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale has hosted the French Ambassador for Global Health, Ms Anne-Claire Amprou, and the French Ambassador to Kenya Arnaud Suquet, for a strategic engagement ahead of the 2026 Africa–France Summit in Nairobi.
As the first non-Francophone African nation to host the summit, Kenya will use this platform to consolidate gains in diplomacy, health, and development.
The meeting reaffirmed the strength of Kenya–France relations and highlighted opportunities for deeper collaboration.
CS Duale briefed the dignitaries on the 5th Administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), with quality healthcare as a core pillar.
Further, discussions focused on advancing regional capacity through support for advanced laboratory systems, biosecurity training, and robust field epidemiology programmes to detect and contain cross-border health threats.
Meanwhile, Kenya is poised to leverage French expertise in genomic surveillance, epidemic intelligence, data integration, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring, building on existing France-supported ‘One Health’ initiatives in the region.
The engagement underscores Kenya’s commitment to a strategic, long-term partnership with France—advancing Universal Health Coverage under BETA and strengthening resilience against future global health challenges.
The Cabinet Secretary was joined by Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth.
