Garissa youths urged to enroll for technical training

Youths in ijara constituency, Garisaa county have been called to take up technical courses being offered by Ijara Technical and Vocational College to gain hands on skills to suit in today’s workforce.

In a press statement an ijara youth leader Yakub Yarrow called on youths to register in the institutions which will also help to curb drugs and substance abuse in the area.

“Technical and vocational skills are no longer optional — they are the backbone of today’s economy across the world, technical courses are creating jobs, besides helping to build industries by offering the much-needed skilled workforce, and empowering youths with practical,” said Yarrow.

Salah Yarrow said Ijara Technical and Vocational College is well–equipped with modern facilities and ready to shape the region’s workforce noting that low enrollment in the institution remains a worrying trend.

“It is time we change our mindset that it is only white-collar jobs that can help us eke a living. Skilled individuals help in nation building. Electricians, mechanics, plumbers, ICT technicians, and artisans are in higher demand today than ever before,” he noted.

He added: “Let’s embrace technical education, and enroll in technical institutions, as we encourage our youth to pursue skills that guarantee economic independence, and employment.”

My Yarrow said the future belongs to those who are bold to change their destiy, not just those who attempt to do something ending up as failures.
