Give credit to government where due- CS Mbadi

Cabinet Secretary (CS), for National Treasury and Economic Planning John Mbadi, has called on Kenyans to give the government credit for what it has accomplished instead of criticising everything it does.

Mbadi, who spoke at a church fundraiser in Suna West Sub- County in Migori, said that the government has done so much, but a lot of negative criticism continues to be propagated by a section of Kenyans.

The CS disclosed that in the last Financial Year (FY), 2024/25, the Treasury released all the County allocations totaling Sh415 billion to the counties, including all the arrears of the FY 2023/24, portraying the government’s commitment to ensure devolution works.

He also noted that the Treasury released all the money for the National Government-Constituencies Development Funds (NG-CDF) for the end of the FY 2024/25, to promote development across the country, with a 94 percent utilisation success of the development budget.

Mbadi said that he has also initiated the release of eight billion to support salary increments for teachers, adding that those who criticise the government for doing nothing are being dishonest in their negative denunciation.

The CS confirmed that the government will continue allocating more cash to the Social Health Authority (SHA), to ensure that healthcare works in the country so as to promote a healthier workforce.

On the issue of picketing, the CS called upon the youths to exercise caution and critic the government positively, instead of engaging in violence and destruction of property.

He lamented that while the government was trying its best to look for foreign investors to invest in the country, the youths were busy engaging in undemocratic behaviour that portrays the country as an unsafe place to do business.

“We cannot be visiting foreign countries to champion for foreign investors to invest in the country while at the same time the youths are destroying businesses, looting and engaging in acts of lawlessness,” lamented Mbadi.

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko and Suna West Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Masara, who accompanied the CS, said that it was time to support and give the government of the day, time to deliver its promises to Kenya.
