The government will soon organise a major operation to mop up all illegal fire arms in six counties the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner (RC), George Natembeya has said.
Addressing leaders, chiefs and Samburu residents in Maralal on Thursday, the RC said that the government through County Commissioners and Chiefs would mop up all illegal fire arms in the wrong hands in the region.
Natembeya warned that serious action would be taken to any chief in whose area of jurisdiction the illegal arms would be found.
He urged that all with such weapons to surrender them to their respective chiefs or nearest police station before the month of October.
The RC warned cattle rustlers that their days were numbered as the government would smoke them out of their hiding caves.
He further disclosed that five chiefs would be sacked following poor service delivery in their working locations.
