Governor Arati unveils modern machinery to boost road construction

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has launched state-of-the-art road construction machinery to boost road infrastructure in the county.

Speaking during the launch at Gusii Stadium in Kisii town, Governor Arati said the county-owned machinery will transform the road network across all 45 wards by opening up rural roads and ensuring they are all-weather passable.

The fleet included 15 road graders, eight excavators, three wheel loaders, five rollers, and one bull-dozer.

“These machines will create jobs for 120 operators and a further 1,500 individuals under the Kazi Mashinani Programme, who will work on the roads,” he added.

The County Boss also pledged to deliver 20 tippers, two fuel tankers, two water bowsers, two prime mover trucks, and two tool trucks to further improve road construction in the county.

Governor Arati described the launch as a significant milestone in the county’s development agenda and called on the residents to support his administration.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, who attended the function, affirmed that the machinery will support the expansion of rural roads and accelerate development in the region.

Ogamba cautioned the residents against divisive politics and urged them to back development-oriented leaders.

“Let us not allow politics to cause division or bloodshed in our county. Let us unite and promote development for the people of Kisii,” he said.
