The Awasi location Chief, Evance Onyango has called on the public to help police in the nabbing of illicit brew in the area.
He said the move will support reduction of the consumption and sale of the prohibited liquor which is a menace to the youth.
Onyango said recent action by the police and the administrators through a tip off by members of the public has yielded results as many youth and sellers were arrested and appeared before the court.
“Through public participation, we can achieve a lot and apprehend those involved in consumption and sale of illicit brew,” said Onyango.
He said through public Baraza they have cautioned those dealing in the sale of illicit brews to stop and instead involve in other legitimate businesses to improve their livelihoods.
“The sale of unlawful brews will put you on the wrong side of the law, involve yourself in businesses that are legal to avoid being imprisoned,” he advised.
Speaking to KNA in his offices in Awasi on Wednesday, he said that with the help of the police they will continue to conduct raids and apprehend those dealing in illicit brew.
“We will not relent in our push to wipe out the sale and consumption of illicit brew in the location with the help of police,” he asserted.
