Police in Muhoroni Sub-County, Kisumu County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 33-year-old man whose body was discovered in a water pan several days after he went missing.

The deceased, identified as Dalmas Ochieng Sana, a local herdsman, was found on Tuesday evening at Nyandwa Water Pan in Kachieng’ village, Wang’aya Sub-location. He was last seen alive on the evening of Sunday, January 11.

Muhoroni Sub-County Police Commander Fredrick Ombaka confirmed the incident, saying preliminary examinations indicated signs of torture. Fresh blood was observed oozing from the deceased’s mouth and nose, although no visible external injuries were noted.

“A physical examination was conducted and blood was seen oozing from the mouth and nose. However, no visible external injuries were noted on the body,” Ombaka said.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be established.

The case was reported to Chemelil Police Post by Wang’aya 1 Sub-location Assistant Chief Ann Anyango. Police officers later visited the scene and transferred the body to Othoo Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
