The National Government has stepped up efforts to ensure implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda at the grassroots.
In Endebess Sub County, residents will soon have access to improved health services once the ongoing construction of the Endebess Level Four Hospital is complete.
Speaking while on an inspection tour of the ongoing works, Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi said the elevation of the facility presents part of the national government’s efforts geared towards strengthening healthcare systems and improving access to healthcare services in the country as envisioned in the BETA Blueprint.
Oyagi added that completion of the facility will to a greater extent help in provision of quality and affordable healthcare services not only to residents of Endebess sub-county but even to those from neighbouring sub-counties who at times are forced to cover longer distances to seek medication elsewhere.
Construction of the facility is sponsored by the national government through the Ministry of Health to the tune of Sh300 M, and it is expected to be ready in 18 months.
Revealing that Sh100M has already been paid to the contractor, Oyagi promised the balance will be cleared once the construction works are completed and necessary approvals are done.
The CC hailed the speed and quality of workmanship demonstrated by the contractor, urging other contractors to do likewise to attain public confidence.
In as much as health is a devolved function, Oyagi explained that delivery of services to Kenyans is the main focus for both county units and national government.
“Yes, this is a national government project, and it doesn’t matter whether health is devolved or not. Service to Kenyans is the bottom line. We are happy with the ongoing works, and the contractor has assured us he will do everything possible to ensure he’s done in the next 18 months, the challenges of weather notwithstanding,” he said.
