Kericho County is set to command the national spotlight on Friday, December 19, 2025, as it hosts the prestigious National Farmers Awards and Celebrations at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium, in Kericho town, marking a high-impact tribute to the nation’s leading agripreneurs and food system champions.
The 2025 National Farmers Awards will honour excellence across a broad spectrum of categories, including individual farmers demonstrating outstanding productivity, seed growers ensuring high-quality planting materials, and agro-dealers facilitating access to critical farm inputs, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting every link in the agricultural chain.
The awards will also recognise micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) driving agribusiness innovation, millers adding value to farm produce; transporters, particularly motorbike operators enabling last-mile delivery of fertilisers and inputs; manufacturers supporting agricultural processing; and county value chains that are building competitive, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural ecosystems.
During a meeting of county heads of departments, Kericho County Commissioner Mr Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru revealed that all logistical and security arrangements have been finalised to ensure a seamless event that meets both national and county expectations.
“Kericho is ready to demonstrate how strategic public investments in agriculture can directly transform livelihoods, create jobs, and boost food security, setting a benchmark for other counties across the nation.” Mr Gicheru said
The CC pointed out that this inclusive approach reflects the government’s commitment to promoting market-driven, value-chain-focused agricultural reforms that reward every contributor to Kenya’s food systems and rural economies.
“All preparations are complete, and we are confident that tomorrow’s National Farmers Awards will not only celebrate excellence but also highlight Kericho’s leadership in agricultural transformation,” Mr Gicheru assured.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, in partnership with county governments, has coordinated the arrival of farmers, agribusiness leaders, policymakers, and development partners from across the country to witness the celebration that will kick off from 9.00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
