Construction of the Khwisero Sub-County Level IV Hospital has reached 70 per cent, raising hopes among residents of improved access to specialised healthcare in the area.
Area MP Christopher Aseka, accompanied by COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, inspected the ongoing works on Monday and said the project was progressing according to schedule.
The facility is expected to expand the range of health services available to residents who have traditionally travelled outside the constituency to seek higher-level treatment.
The inspection also provided an opportunity for residents to access government services at the project site, including National Identity Card applications, voter registration and verification, and registration for the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Aseka said bringing government services closer to residents was part of ensuring development projects directly respond to the needs of the community.
He later addressed residents during a public engagement, where he highlighted the hospital as one of the key development projects being implemented in the constituency under President William Ruto’s administration.
Aseka also urged residents to support President Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027, citing ongoing development projects as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving livelihoods.
The engagement brought together Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana, former Khwisero MP Julius Arunga, several MCAs and other local leaders.
Once completed, the hospital will be a major addition to Khwisero’s health infrastructure and will improve access to essential and specialised medical services.
