Access roads within Kikuyu Town have been successfully upgraded following the completion of major improvement works aimed at easing congestion and enhancing connectivity within the fast-growing urban center.
The project, spearheaded by Kikuyu Member of Parliament, Kimani Ichung’wah, involved the tarmacking and upgrading of several access and loop roads to improve traffic flow, support local businesses, and accommodate the town’s expanding population.
According to project officials, most of the roadworks were carried out at night to minimize disruptions to traffic and business activities during the day.
The night operations allowed contractors to complete the works efficiently while ensuring that traders and motorists continued their routines with minimal inconvenience.
Residents have welcomed the project, noting that it has significantly improved movement within the town and boosted business operations.
Jane Wambui, a shop owner in Kikuyu, praised the initiative as timely, saying traffic jams had previously slowed movement and hurt local trade. “Now, with the roads fully upgraded, it’s much easier for everyone to move around and do business,” she said.
Boda boda operators also expressed fulfilment with the improvements. Peter Mwaura, a rider in Kikuyu, said the access roads were previously full of potholes that delayed movement and caused unnecessary congestion.
“Before the upgrading, we struggled with deep potholes that made it difficult to ride. Now, the roads are smooth, and movement around town is much easier,” he added.
The completed works have transformed transportation within Kikuyu town, marking a major milestone in the town’s infrastructure development. Motorists and traders are now enjoying improved accessibility and smoother traffic flow, greatly enhancing the town’s business environment and residents’ quality of life.
