A 31-year-old man is being held at Aram Police Station after allegedly killing his 6-year-old nephew at Ojelo village, West Asembo location, Rarieda sub-county.
Denis Nyahinda is said to have slashed Tyron Onyango on the head and neck using a panga, killing him on the spot.
According to West Asembo location Chief Wycliffe Odiango, the deceased had visited his grandmother to spend this holiday season and was playing with other children when Nyahinda asked them to stop making noise.
Chief Odiango reported that the children allegedly ignored the suspect and instead continued playing prompting Nyahinda to get a panga from his house. He then chased the nephew up to his grandmother’s house and hacked him to death.
Mr Odiango said that on being alerted security personnel rushed to the scene and removed the body to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for postmortem.
He took the opportunity to advise members of the public to use amicable ways to solve disputes other than taking law into their own hands.
