A sombre mood engulfed East Gem in Rangwe Sub County after a man was discovered murdered and dumped by the road side.
The body of the deceased identified as Enosh Otieno appeared to have been tortured and burnt with a corrosive chemical.
The deceased’s mother Helen Onyango said he had left home on Monday to an undisclosed destination only to be discovered dead the following day.
She said her son was expecting to graduate from Mount Kenya University later this year.
Rangwe Sub County Police Commander Magdalene Chebet said officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations were investigating the incident.
She urged members of the public to volunteer to authorities any information which may assist with investigations.
Residents urged the police to expedite investigations saying it was unfortunate that killers were roaming free in the villages.
