The family of the late Secretary General to the Luo Council of Elders, Mr. Abel Ombuor, is calling on both the Migori County Government and the National Government to urgently repair dilapidated roads leading to his home ahead of his burial on 3rd April.
Speaking in Migori town, the son to the deceased, Pastor Eric Abel Ombuor, expressed deep concern that the poor infrastructure would prevent mourners from paying their final respect to his father, whom he described as a “towering figure” in the Luo community.
The Stela-Osogo road is reportedly so dire that it has already disrupted traditional mourning rites.
According to Pastor Ombuor the road’s pathetic conditions has already prevented the Chairman of the Luo Council of Elders, Odungi Randa, from visiting their home to condole with the family.
A section of the Council of Elders members from Uriri Sub-County led by Patron Jim Ayayo Ayodo also supported the call to repair the poor roads and and further urged Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and Uriri MP Mark Nyamitta to address long-standing power outage in the area.
Some Council of Elders members who spoke to KNA including Peter Okumu Abong’o, eulogized Mr. Ombuor as a hardworking and beloved leader.
They emphasized that his burial should reflect his lifelong dedication to the community and thus urged the government to facilitate a smooth sendoff for him
