Patients seeking X-ray services at Hamisi Sub-county Hospital can now breathe a sigh of relief following the arrival of an Ultra-Portable Battery Powered Digital X-ray System.
Vihiga County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services, Dr. Nicholas Kitungulu, together with Chief Officer, Dr. Mary Anyiendah, from USAID-PATH Nuru Ya Mtoto presided over the handing over ceremony.
Through the Department of Health Services, the modern X-ray system is designed to provide instant diagnostic imaging for all body parts and is capable of serving more than 200 patients within 8 hours.
According to Dr. Habel Alwanga, Deputy Chief of Party at PATH Kenya – Nuru Ya Mtoto Project, the system comprises a high-frequency generator, wireless panel detector, radiation protection gear and a laptop equipped with AI acquisition software.
Residents have been encouraged to register with SHA and take advantage of these diagnostic services as the county intensifies efforts to address the alarming 30 percent TB and HIV co-infection rate recorded in 2025.
The portable digital X-ray system comes as a major boost to the already existing NCD Pen Plus Clinic at Hamisi and will also support other health facilities across the County when need arises.
