Residents of Gem west location in Rangwe Sub County have raised concern over a group of gangsters terrorising them at night and stealing their properties.
The residents from five villages of Kachuo, Kobogno, Kanyadoro, Wagire and Kondiek villages added that they are experiencing escalating cases of burglary in the area.
Led by Maurice Kawino they decried that they are having sleepless nights as they fear the criminals could strike any time.
Kawino further argued that the suspects who hail from the area are stealing household items and other materials such as doors and windows after breaking houses.
He said that several people have been attacked and seriously injured during such attacks citing a recent incident where a woman was attacked and slashed with a machete at the home of a pastor in the area.
They claimed that despite raising the issue with the area security officers no action has been taken.
They appealed to Rangwe Sub County security committee to swing into action and ensure that the suspects are brought to book besides enhancing night patrols in the area.
However contacted for comments Rangwe Sub-County police commander Jane Sang said they have arrested 11 suspects in connection with insecurity in the area and assured the residents that they are still pursuing more.
