Sang’alo Aggregation Centre contractor risks cancellation of contract over delay

Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary  Lee Kinyanjui has expressed concern at the slow rate of construction works at the Bungoma County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs).

The CS noted that the Sh500m project at Sangalo, expected to be completed at the end of August 2025 was at 30% progress despite funds having been disbursed into the project’s account.

Speaking when he led a team from National Government and County Government of Bungoma on an inspection tour of the project, the CS said that the contractor risks having the contract cancelled due to slow rate of implementation.

The CS said the project aims at improving the County’s agricultural  economy and its completion would go a long way in benefitting farmers in the area who would use the facility to reduce post-harvest losses and add value to produce; thus, the need for it to be completed on time.

The CAIPs Sang’alo is among 13 others being constructed nationwide. Governor Bungoma said the County government had already released Sh126m to the project.

The Principal Secretary of the State department for Industry Juma Mukhwana and the PS for Trade Regina Ombam attended the event.
