The government of Azerbaijan, through its ambassador to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev has donated about Sh2.54 million to St. Ursula Chamakanga special school in Sabatia sub county, Vihiga County.
The funds are to be used for among other things purchase of learning materials, provision of basic needs and the development of infrastructure at the institution.
The area Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo, who accompanied the envoy to the school, appreciated the government and people of Azerbaijan for the generosity and pledged to cooperate in areas of mutual interest so as to strengthen the new found partnership.
The governor also lauded the Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi for contributing Sh2 million towards the same cause.
Dr. Ottichilo promised to complete the ongoing construction of an Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) center as well as connecting the institution to clean and safe water.
The governor appealed to parents and guardians with children who are abled differently to enroll them in schools, so that they also access equal opportunities with the others in the society.
