In a successful joint security operation, six heads of cattle stolen at the border of West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet County recently have been recovered and handed to the owner.
Addressing the press in Kapenguria on Friday, West Pokot County Director for Peace Rev. Jackson Alukusia said the cows were recovered in Kawala Forest in Marakwet East.
Rev.Alukisia stated that swift and coordinated efforts to recover the livestock were led by him with support from County Governor Simon Kachapin and Weiwei Member of County Assembly (MCA) David Moiben.
He disclosed the operation involved close collaboration with security agencies, including the GSU, Criminal Investigation, and KDF departments.
Rev. Alukusia said the successful recovery underscores the effectiveness of concerted security initiatives between county and national government agencies.
He commended the security forces for their prompt response and dedication to protecting local livelihoods, noting that the owner of the recovered cows expressed appreciation to the National government and county leadership.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting peace-building initiatives and strengthening security measures, particularly in livestock-rearing areas, to prevent rustling incidents in the future.
He said there is a need to foster peace and safeguard the livelihoods of residents in the region.
