A senior official at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology has been arraigned in court over a murder charge.
The university’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francis Ang’awa Okere, on Wednesday appeared before a Bondo court alongside two other accused persons, Meshack Ndiege Okuku and Joash Odhiambo Ongoro. The trio was charged with the murder of Denis Ambrose Achieng, allegedly committed on November 15, 2025.
They appeared before Bondo Resident Magistrate Christabel Maiyo. However, the accused were not required to take plea after the prosecution requested more time to complete investigations before the matter could be committed to the High Court.
The court was told that the alleged offence occurred along the Gul Min Ougo murram road in Nyaguda sub-location, South Sakwa location, within Siaya County.
Magistrate Maiyo granted each of the accused a bond of Sh200,000 with one surety, or an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000. She also directed the suspects not to interfere with witnesses and to remain available to investigating officers whenever required.
The magistrate cautioned that failure to comply with the bond conditions would result in cancellation of the bail terms.
The case is scheduled for mention on January 12, 2026.
