Two perish in night road crash

Two people lost their lives Monday night after the vehicle they were travelling in hit a lorry near Athi River Cement Factory.
According to Athi River Police boss Mr. Sharma Wario the driver of the saloon car rammed into the truck from the back just a few meters from the Nairobi-Namanga road interchange.
The duo died on the spot and their bodies were moved to Shalom community hospital mortuary in Athi River.
Both vehicles were later towed to the Athi River Police Station as investigations into the incident got under way.
The 11 pm incident came less than 12 hours after five other people perished along the same road when a trailer rammed into 14 -seater matatu they were travelling in.
The five were in a group of 14 worshippers of the Saint Mary’s Miracle church in Mombasa. They were returning to Mombasa from Siaya County where they had been conducting an evangelical meeting over the weekend.
The team had left Ugenya at 4.30 pm the previous day in the hired matatu and arrived in Nairobi early the following morning. They had a brief stopover before resuming the journey.
