Uber has announced a 40 percent discount on all its products to celebrate the Harambee Stars’ historic advancement to the quarter-finals of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The discount code, Uber2CHAN40, will be active on Friday, August 22, 2025, on the day of the match against Madagascar at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani stadium.
Most importantly, the discount is intended to provide fans with an affordable and convenient way to travel around the city on match day, whether they are heading to the stadium, fan zones, or post-match celebrations.
Similarly, this initiative aligns with the resourceful spirit of Nairobi dwellers, who have found creative, budget-friendly ways to navigate match-day traffic and get to the games.
According to Imran Manji, Uber’s General Manager for East and West Africa, the company is happy to offer solutions that support the city’s vibrant fan culture by providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation.
The company, he noted, has observed an increase in the use of its Uber Boda service as a quick and affordable way for fans to get to the matches on time.
“We’ve seen how quickly Nairobi people adapt to new challenges, and it’s inspiring. We’re happy to offer solutions that support this vibrant fan culture, providing safe, reliable, and affordable ways for people to get to the games or to fan zones,” highlighted Manji in a press statement.
Additionally, the General Manager stressed that Uber’s goal is to be a seamless part of the match-day experience, ensuring the focus remains on the beautiful game.
Meanwhile, the CHAN 2024 tournament, which is co-hosted by Kenya, has turned Nairobi into a vibrant football village.
The strong performance of the Harambee Stars, including victories over Morocco and Zambia, has amplified the excitement and drawn thousands of fans to the stadiums.
