Some 281 Vihiga County staff members have been flagged off to represent the county at the prestigious Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games scheduled to kick off in Siaya County from Nov 24th to 29th.
The participants, selected to compete in 24 diverse disciplines, were given a rousing send-off by Governor Dr Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo, who emphasised the importance of discipline and hard work in achieving success at such events.
The Governor urged the participants to proudly carry the county’s flag high and use this opportunity to interact and network with colleagues from other counties.
The selection process for this year’s KICOSCA team was meticulously organised in accordance with Vihiga County’s KICOSCA Implementation Guidelines, approved by the cabinet.
The guidelines established three committees: the Steering Committee, the Technical Planning Committee, and the Disputes Resolution and Appeals Committee, all tasked with managing the entire process.
Competency-based auditions, overseen by external experts, were conducted to select both provisional and final squads for each discipline, ensuring that only the most skilled staff members were selected to represent the county.
The county will participate in netball, tug of war, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, handball, pool, soccer, basketball, golf, Scrabble, Ajua, chess, darts, choir, and cultural dance.
With such a diverse and talented team, Vihiga County is expected to make a strong impression at the KICOSCA games.
