Vihiga County Government has completed a two-day public participation exercise to collect residents’ views towards the development of the 2026 County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP).
The exercise, conducted through the Department of Finance and Economic Planning, was undertaken pursuant to Section 126 of the Public Finance Management Act 2012 and Section 87 of the County Government Act 2012, which require public involvement in planning and budgeting processes.
The 2026 CFSP is the fourth fiscal strategy paper geared towards the implementation of the Third Generation County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP III) and outlines the county government’s fiscal strategies and programme implementation framework for the 2026/27 financial year and the medium term.
The document will guide policy direction and inform the preparation and implementation of the county budget with the aim of promoting sustainable development, inclusive growth and improved livelihoods for residents.
The county government reiterated its commitment to accelerating socio-economic transformation while ensuring prudent management of available resources for the benefit of wananchi.
Public participation forums were held across the county to enhance inclusivity. In Luanda Sub-County, the meeting was held at Ebusakami ACK Church in Emabungo Ward; Vihiga Sub-County residents met at Gavalagi Friends Church in South Maragoli Ward; Emuhaya Sub-County at Ebukholi AIC Church in North East Bunyore Ward; Sabatia Sub-County at Salamba Church in Chamakanga, Busali Ward; Hamisi Sub-County at Munzatsi Friends Church in Gisambai Ward; and Tiriki East Sub-County at Ludodo Friends Church in Shamakhokho Ward.
Residents who attended the forums expressed optimism that their views would be incorporated into the county’s development priorities.
