Preparations for this year’s Labour Day celebrations are in the final stages, with Vihiga County set to host the national event on May 1, 2026.
Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichillo said the county has intensified planning efforts to ensure a successful celebrations, noting that key logistical arrangements have been finalized.
The Governor spoke at his office during a progress briefing meeting with COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who paid him a courtesy call.
Dr. Ottichillo expressed confidence in the county’s preparedness, stating that most of the critical areas have been addressed, ahead of the national event.
The celebrations, scheduled for Friday, May 1, will mark a historic occasion as Vihiga hosts the Labour Day event for the first time.
Local leaders are now calling on Kenyans to attend the celebrations and experience the county’s hospitality, even as the event is expected to attract workers, union leaders, and government officials from across the country.
