Woman appeals for wheelchair

A middle aged woman whose wheelchair was stolen by an unknown person is appealing to well-wishers or any State agency to help her get a replacement.

Mary Barbari Masai who was a cross border business woman lost her bicycle June 20 2021 in her usual store place.

Mary says she used to keep her bicycle outside Busia Police Headquarters after business and collect it in the morning after being dropped by boda-boda from Bulanda, but on that material day, she found her wheelchair missing.

“Despite my disability, I am a cross border business woman; that wheelchair was my office,” said Mary.

She added that she has been using her wheelchair to pay school fees for her two sons. “I have two sons, one at Moi University and another boy at college, I am the one paying their fees and upkeep,” she added.

The matter was reported at Busia Police station and she obtained an OB number for 20/06/2021 but her effort to get help from the station has borne no fruits.

Mary now appeals to the NGO dealing with disability, well-wishers and government organizations that could assist her get a wheelchair to continue with her daily hustle.
