Woman representative donates car washing machines

Kakamega County Women representative, Elsie Muhanda, has donated car washing machines to boda boda groups in the area in efforts to expand and diversify their sources of income.

Muhanda handed over the equipment to the Kambiri Boda Boda Group and the Vihiga Orange Boda Boda Group through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).

She said boda boda riders play a key role in the local transport and remain an important support system in community development.

Muhanda noted that providing them with modern car washing machines would strengthen their businesses and promote financial independence.

She explained that the car washing equipment will help the groups create steady income streams, reduce unemployment among young people and support families that depend on the boda boda sector for their livelihood.

“This is how we build a self-reliant and prosperous Kakamega,” she said.

She said empowerment is effective when it directly reaches the people and gives them the means to uplift themselves.

The riders thanked the women representative for the gesture, saying the machines would expand their earning potential and attract more customers.

The County MP reaffirmed her commitment to supporting youth and women through NGAAF programmes, noting that her office will continue rolling out income-generating initiatives across the county.

She urged young people to form organised groups and take advantage of empowerment programmes designed to improve their wellbeing and economic stability.

The event marked another milestone in her ongoing efforts to promote entrepreneurship and reduce poverty at the grassroots level in Kakamega County.
