Emmanuel Kerario Gikumi, a 21-year-old Automotive Engineering student from Mabera Sub-county, Kuria, has won the Sh1million Coca-Cola’s Funua Flava under the Crown promotion, becoming the third millionaire in the campaign.
The second-year student at Mabera Technical and Vocational College (TVC) said the win has lifted a heavy burden off his shoulders.
“I have been struggling to register for exams due to a lack of school fees. With this win, school fees will no longer be a barrier”, he joyfully said.
The new millionaire in town, who comes from Nyamagagana village, received his cheque from Coca-Cola, presented by George Kerina, the Coca-Cola Bottler Kenya Area Sales Manager for Mabera Region at Mabera market.
Gikumi plans to complete his certificate course and enroll for a diploma in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering next year to advance his academic career and be self-employed.
He also plans to use part of the prize to support his siblings’ education and help his parents grow their businesses.
Gikumi now joins Lauryne Birir, a honey trader from Baringo County, and Jacob Ochieng Liech, a boda boda rider from Kisumu county, both one million winners of Coca-Cola’s Funua Flava.
The promotion will run until November 15 this year, with nine more millionaires expected to be unveiled.
George Kerina, the Coca-Cola Bottler Kenya Area Sales Manager for Mabera region, encouraged Kenyans to participate for a chance to win.
In addition to the Sh1 million grand prize, winners also receive instant airtime, data bundles, and cash rewards ranging from Sh100 to Sh100,000.
The Funua Flava Under the Crown promotion, launched on August 15, requires consumers to purchase a 300ml glass bottle of Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Stoney, Krest, or Schweppes, check under the yellow cap for a unique code, and SMS it to 40111.
