Nairobi Regional Commissioner (RC) Gilbert Kitiyo, has urged Nairobi County residents to register for the affordable houses to enable them own and enjoy the houses.
Kitiyo said the government is constructing the affordable houses in various areas within the city among them Embakasi South, Embakasi, West, Embakasi Central, Langata, Starehe, Kamukunji, Makadara, Mathare, Kasarani, Roysambu, Dagoretti South, Dagoretti North, Westlands, Kibera and Ruaraka Constituencies to uplift the standards of living of the citizenry.
“People from the informal settlement who have been allocated houses, should see this as transformation as they are now living in clean houses. Do not rent them and return to the houses you left,” urged the RC.
He also directed the beneficiaries of the houses who were engaged in illegal businesses such as selling illegal brews to reform and engage in businesses that are acceptable in their new environment.
The RC was speaking during a familiarization visit of the five Sub Counties of Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Embakasi East, Embakasi West and Embakasi Central where he addressed Deputy County Commissioners, National Government Administration Officers and Sub County Heads of Departments.
Kitiyo who was accompanied by the Nairobi County Commissioner, David Wanyonyi, urged the officers to embrace teamwork to enable them deliver efficient services to the citizenry.
He said the government has the adequate resources and manpower for service delivery, a need that requires them to build synergy to offer the public timely services.
“The government is initiating various projects and programmes in the County. This requires you to make people understand the kind of service your offices are offering and how they will benefit,” emphasised the RC.
He at the same time called upon the officers to be holding joint barazas to enlighten the public on the programmes and projects as this will make them fully participate in the projects as beneficiaries.
Kitiyo said the government is providing various funds to Kenyans through various channels among them, the Women Enterprise Fund, Hustler Fund and Uwezo Fund, and told the officers to direct the public where they can access the funds and terms of repayment.
