Coffee nets Sh704 million during Sale 1 of the 2025/2026 season

A consignment of 11, 179 bags of coffee traded during Sale 1 of the 2025/2026 coffee season at Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) on Tuesday realized Sh704 million.

The volume presented for auction marked a roughly 30 percent drop compared to last week’s Sale 42 which was the final auction of the previous season where 14, 524 bags were traded.

In the auction conducted at Wakulima Houses in Nairobi on Tuesday overall average price was Sh48,481 per bag of 50 kilograms.

Grade AB coffee dominated the auction with 3, 953 bags which fetched Sh141.2 million at an average of Sh51, 421 per bag.

Another batch of 3,953 bags of grade C earned Sh134.6 million with 1, 024 bags of premium grade AA netting Sh76.3 million.

Twelve brokers participated in the sale with Alliance Berries Ltd trading the largest volume of 2,922 bags earning Sh134 million followed by New KPCU with 2,926 bags which fetched Sh133.9 million.

Others, Kipkelion Company traded 944 bags earning Sh56.7 million, KCCEMA Coffee brokerage ltd sold 891 bags netting Sh54.8 million and Meru Union got Sh38.6 million after selling 697 bags.

In the category of buyers, five dealers purchased 8,793 bags valued at Sh573.5 million, which represents about 78.7 percent of the total volume traded and 80 percent of the total value of the entire sale, underlining their continued dominance at the NCE.

The five dealers that dominated the auction included Ibero Kenya Ltd which bought 2,514 bags at Sh144.7 million followed by C.Dormans SEZ ltd which purchased 2,234 bags worth Sh. 144 million.

Louis Dreyfus Company purchased 1,531 bags at Sh88.7 million, Taylor Winch Ltd bought 1, 328 bags worth Sh82.8 million and Sasini Ltd got 1,186 at Sh76.6 million.
