Calls for synergy between County and National government

Elgeyo Marakwet County Commissioner David Koske has called for synergy between the national and county government heads to ensure that all officers are aware of the various projects being undertaken by the two governments.

Noting that the officers interact with many residents in the course of their work, the CC said it was important that they have all the information on the projects so that they can authoritatively avail the same to wananchi.

“As county heads, we should be ambassadors of government policies and projects to wananchi but this can only happen if we are aware of what the government is doing,” he said.

Addressing county heads of departments during his inaugural meeting at the county commissioner’s hall in Iten, the CC said going forward his office will come up with a calendar for the County Service Delivery Meeting which will be held monthly.

Koske said all government programmes must be discussed in the forum with all details availed so that all officers are in the picture of what each department is doing saying when officers are in the dark, wananchi will also be in the dark.

“During the meeting, the respective county head will give details about the project they are undertaking which will include the allocation, the current status and timelines and any other important information,” he said.

The CC also called on the county secretary Lazarus Chebii who was present to liaise with his office and have a quarterly meeting which will include the county heads and the County Executive Committees (CEC’s) where projects being undertaken by both county and national government will be discussed.

The CC said the county heads must attend the meetings in person saying delegation will not be allowed unless there is a good reason but added that the representative must be able to articulate clearly the issues involved.

Koske called for a closer working relationship among all officers, saying county heads were key as line ministries implement projects and policies through them.
