Teso North MP Oku Kaunya has assured residents that the Amagoro Huduma Centre in Teso North Sub County will open its doors to the public.
It will be a sigh of relief to residents from Teso North Constituency and its environs who have been travelling to Busia or Bungoma to seek similar services.
Addressing learners, parents, and teachers during the commissioning of two classrooms at Amaogoro Comprehensive and Primary School on Monday, Dr.Oku said that through the NG CDF Teso North constituency, works have already began on locating where the centre will be erected.
” To formalise the process, I sent Deputy Speaker and Malaba central MCA Hon Ronald Ochalu to seek permission from the County Government of Busia leadership to give us permission in the meanwhile to operate from the public works offices which met a positive response with a written acknowledgement,” he said.
The MP added, ” I travelled to Huduma Centre Nairobi seeking authority to start the centre. The team from Nairobi came to inspect the facility and mandated us to install electricity and avail water among other things, which we fulfilled.
” What blocked us was a team from the World Bank, which told us that the Briton wood institution had set aside money to build Huduma centres in all border towns in Kenya, including Malaba.
Huduma centre is a physical one-stop-shop service delivery point where customers can access multiple national and county government services.
Currently, there are 57 Huduma centres located in 47 counties, with Nairobi county having 5, Laikipia County 2, and Kajiado 2.
The Huduma Kenya Service Delivery Programme was officially launched with the opening of the first Huduma centre on November 7, 2013 by former President H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta.
Huduma Centres in Kenya fall under the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, specifically the State Department for Public Service, which oversees their operations as part of transforming public service delivery.
The Huduma Kenya secretariat, a key department within this ministry, manages the day-to-day operations of the one-stop-shop service centres.
