UDA conducts a sensitisation drive to popularise party in Laikipia

Leaders from Laikipia County affiliated to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have launched an initiative to popularise the party ahead of grassroots elections scheduled for next month.

Led by Woman Representative Jane Kagiri and other leaders seeking to be elected to various positions held a sensitisation rally ahead of the election scheduled for March 7

‘’We won’t allow it to be used during elections but on development we are sidelined, we will stick on where we can benefit as a region. We should not make any mistake again when choosing our leaders,” said Kagiri.

At the same time, Kagiri drummed support for President William Ruto second term, noting that he had helped restore security in Laikipia.

Though it was the most popular party in the region during the 2022 General Election under the leadership of President William Ruto, prominent leaders including those who won their elective seats under UDA, have jumped ship in favour of Democratic Citizens Party(DCP) led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

When the grassroots UDA elections kicked off countrywide last month, Laikipia County was marked by poor coordination and apathy, necessitating a repeat exercise next month.
