KNUT Boss urge teachers to support President Ruto’s re-election

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, has urged teachers and the public in general to support President William Ruto’s bid for re-election in the 2027 General Election.

Oyuu noted that President Ruto’s administration had prioritized the education sector in many fronts, such as the recruitment of 10,000 teachers per year for four years, and because of that, he would personally lead teachers in supporting Ruto’s bid for a second term in office ahead of the August 2027 General Election.

The KNUT Secretary General was speaking in Bomet town, where he reiterated that Knut policy was working with the government of the day, adding that a lot had been achieved in the education sector and teachers were set to register more gains if the current government led by President Ruto secured a second term in office.

“The government has given us assurance to solve all the challenges we face in the education sector; hence, the need to accord President Ruto a second term in office to enable him to address our needs as teachers,” Oyuu said.

He appealed to teachers to remain patient as the union pushes welfare matters like enhanced salaries and relaxed taxation, noting it was only through cordial negotiations based on a spirit of give and take that their interests would be achieved.

Oyuu therefore asked teachers as opinion leaders in the country to help vouch for the re-election of President Ruto without any fear. Oyuu’s endorsement for Ruto’s re-election comes in the wake of heightened political activity in the country ahead of the 2027 General Election, with various leaders across the political divide taking positions.
