Ijara parliamentary aspirant Mohamed Bashir Dahir, popularly known as Mobash, has pledged to prioritise the expansion of banking services, Huduma Centre services and construction of the Boji-Masalani Road if elected in the 2027 General Election.
Dahir, who was vetted and endorsed by his community of the Greater Samawathal Community, said he would work closely with residents to address challenges facing the constituency and promote equitable development.
He pledged to serve all residents of Ijara Constituency fairly and without discrimination, saying unity would be central to his leadership.
Dahir also promised to push for the establishment of veterinary services and a customs office at the Hulugho border point to facilitate the movement of goods and merchandise from the port of Kismayo in Jubaland.
He said the opening of the border point to formal trade would help curb the use of illegal routes and improve security along the Kenya-Somalia border, particularly from Jarajila to Raskamboni through the border forest.
The aspirant said customs officials, the Kenya Bureau of Standards and other relevant government departments, together with multi-agency security teams, should be stationed at Hulugho to facilitate legitimate trade and enhance security.
Addressing residents in Masalani town, Dahir pledged to improve bursary support for needy students in the constituency’s eight secondary schools to ensure that lack of school fees does not prevent children from accessing education.
He said parents in Ijara faced significant economic challenges, noting that the constituency lacked major livestock markets similar to the livestock market in Garissa, held on Wednesdays, and the Garsen market held on Tuesdays.
Dahir, who previously served as a postmaster and worked at the Hola Abd Enterprise Road Post Office for about 20 years, also pledged to work with village elders and peace committees to establish regular livestock marketing days in the area.
He called for political unity among residents, saying political differences should not become a source of hostility between neighbours.
The aspirant also endorsed Garissa Senator Abdul Mohamed Haji for the gubernatorial race in the 2027 General Election.
Dahir said, if given the opportunity to lead Ijara, he would work to transform the constituency and steer it towards greater development and prosperity.
