Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi has put grabbers of public land on notice, warning the law will soon catch up with them.
Speaking at Gitwamba Primary School in Saboti Sub-county, Oyagi said the government will not tolerate any individuals out to use illegal means to acquire public land, their status notwithstanding, criticising efforts by some individuals to grab Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) and forest land in Trans Nzoia.
“It is so surprising how individuals can coin a plan to defraud government property when it is very clear the property doesn’t belong to them. The government will not tolerate such behaviour and it has to stop with immediate effect.
If you have a genuine claim to the land, step forward with documentation, we engage each other. Our offices are open and we will listen to you,” he said, warning that documents acquired through fraudulent means will not be accepted.
As Kenyans gear up for Christmas festivities, Oyagi called for moderation as parental obligations await when schools reopen next month.
Meanwhile, the CC cautioned against increasing cases of defilement and teenage pregnancies, urging administrators and the public to ensure perpetrators are brought to book.
“As a society we have a responsibility to protect our children at all costs and nurture them accordingly. It is disturbing to note the increasing numbers of our children falling to sex pests. I urge our administrators to ensure that those behind these heinous acts are arrested,” he said.
