Mosora FC emerged champions of the third edition of the Kangwana Media Cup after defeating Kabeo FC 2–1 in the finals played at Mosora Primary Grounds in Nyamache Sub-County, Kisii County.
The tournament, sponsored by well-wishers from the Gusii community, was organized as a community-focused football initiative aimed at strengthening social cohesion, engaging youth during the festive season, and providing entertainment to football fans.
The finals attracted a large crowd, with residents from different parts of Kisii County turning out to support local teams, highlighting the growing popularity of grassroots football in the region.
Earlier, Shabana Fans Nyanchwa Family clinched third place after edging Omosaria FC 1–0 in the playoff match, while Town Warriors defeated The Referees 3–2 in the opening fixture.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, tournament coordinator Charles Kangwana said the Kangwana Media Cup was designed to keep youth positively engaged and promote unity.
“This tournament is about bringing our community together, keeping our youth busy in a positive way during the festive season, and nurturing local talent,” said the coordinator.
He noted that the support from Gusii well-wishers was driven by a desire to give back to the community.
“Football is a powerful tool for unity and youth empowerment, and that is why we chose to support the tournament,” he said.
Organizers thanked fans, teams, volunteers, and donors for making the event a success, describing the Kangwana Media Cup as a platform that promotes hope, talent development, and community bonding.
