Governor Barasa rallies support for Kimang’eti TTI land purchase

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa Saturday led leaders and residents in a fundraising drive to acquire land for the proposed Kimang’eti Technical Training Institute in Chemuche Ward, Malava Sub County.

The Governor said the establishment of the institution would expand access to technical and vocational education and equip young people with practical skills needed to compete in the labour market.

He noted that his administration remains committed to strengthening skills development through continued investment in technical training institutions.

Barasa also said that the County polytechnics will promote youth empowerment and sustainable economic growth.

He said the proposed institute would complement ongoing efforts to increase access to affordable tertiary education, while nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation among the youth.

The governor also highlighted key development projects undertaken by the county government in Malava Sub-County, including the Kuvasali Water Project, road and bridge construction, expansion of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres and implementation of agricultural support programmes.

Barasa assured residents that the Tumbeni Dairy Plant would be completed and called for closer collaboration between the County and National Governments to fast-track development projects in infrastructure, healthcare, water and markets.

He further urged eligible residents to register as voters, saying public participation remains vital in promoting accountable leadership and development.

The fundraiser was hosted by Malava Member of Parliament David Ndakwa and attended by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Presidential aide Farouk Kibet, Members of Parliament, Members of County Assembly and other national and county leaders.
