Hamisi MP urges students to remain focused

Hamisi MP Charles Gimose has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education in the constituency through the issuance of bursaries to students from needy families, describing education as the greatest equalizer that provides opportunities to learners regardless of their background.

Speaking during bursary issuance ceremonies held at Senende High School and Imusutsu Secondary School, Gimose said the financial support was aimed at helping students pay school fees and remain in school to pursue their academic dreams.

The bursaries were distributed to students from both day and boarding schools across Hamisi Constituency.

The legislator noted that the bursary disbursement process had experienced delays due to the late release of funds from the National Government, but assured parents and students that concerted efforts had been made to ensure deserving learners received the support.

He urged parents to submit bursary application forms on time, saying timely returns enable the NG-CDF office to accurately determine the number of students requiring assistance and effectively plan for future allocations.

“At the constituency level, we rely on the information provided through bursary applications to understand the needs of our learners. Returning the forms on time helps us plan better and ensure that no deserving student is left behind,” he said.

During the event at Imusutsu Secondary School, the MP also donated food supplies to support both students and teachers, noting that adequate nutrition plays a key role in creating a conducive learning environment.

Addressing learners, Gimose encouraged them to work hard, remain disciplined and stay focused on their education.

He shared his personal journey from a humble background to becoming a lawyer with more than 50 years of legal practice, saying his story was evidence that determination, education and hard work can transform lives.

“I came from a humble family, but through education and perseverance, I was able to achieve my dreams. I encourage our students to remain focused because education has the power to change their lives and uplift entire communities,” he said.

The MP highlighted some of the achievements realized through NG-CDF support in the education sector, including the transformation of several mud-walled schools into modern learning institutions.

He cited Kapsengere Primary School as one of the notable examples where improved infrastructure has provided learners with a more conducive and dignified environment for learning.

Gimose said investment in education infrastructure remains a priority for his office, as part of efforts to improve learning outcomes and provide equal opportunities for all children in the constituency.

He also commended staff at the Hamisi NG-CDF office for their dedication and commitment in ensuring bursary cheques were processed and issued despite the challenges experienced during the release of funds.

The legislator encouraged the staff to continue serving residents with dedication and professionalism, noting that their efforts had enabled many students to continue with their studies without interruption.

He concluded by acknowledging the sacrifices made by parents, the dedication of teachers and the commitment shown by students in pursuing their education.

“Together, we are investing in a brighter future through education. May God bless our parents for their sacrifices, our teachers for their dedication and our students for their commitment to learning,” he said.
