Innocent Obiri retains Bobasi constituency seat

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Bobasi Constituency in Kisii County Innocent Obiri has retained his seat after he garnered 20,957 out of the 67,485 valid votes cast in the constituency in this year’s polls.

Obiri who vied on a Wiper ticket was followed by Stephen Manoti of Jubilee 13,192 and Wilkins Nyangweso Independent candidate with 11,105votes.

Celebrating his victory at Nyamache Boys Secondary school which is the constituency tallying centre yesterday morning, Obiri urged his competitors to accept the results as he did during the 2013 and 2017 election when he vied for the same seat and lost but congratulated those who won then.

He pledged to work with those who lost to foster development in the area.

Area IEBC returning officer Fridah Chebet described the elections as peaceful that ended well but urged any aggrieved party to go to court saying she was ready for any petition.

Chebet said there were no major challenges during the ballot adding that none voted manually.

Nyamache DCC Esther Mwaura applauded the 106,130 registered voters for maintaining peace and order during the polls.
