Kajiado North Member of Parliament Onesmus Ngogoyo has officially opened the expanded Embulbul Police Post, a move expected to bring security services closer to residents and strengthen the response to emerging community needs in the area.
The expanded facility means members of the public will no longer need to travel to distant police stations to access services or report incidents.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Ngogoyo said the investment was part of wider efforts to improve public services through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF), which also supports education, markets and other community projects.
“Now that the police post is here, there are many things that you don’t have to go to the station for,” Ngogoyo said, citing services such as replacing lost documents that previously required a trip to Oloolua Police Station.
The MP revealed plans to incorporate facilities catering for children who are lost or in need of temporary protection, as well as support for survivors of gender-based violence, services he said are becoming very necessary.
He said the expanded facility would also improve the speed at which officers respond to emergencies and enhance cooperation between the police and residents.
The MP said the closer presence of security officers was expected to encourage members of the public to report incidents and seek assistance promptly.
Ngogoyo said further developments for the facility would be undertaken this financial year, including construction of a perimeter fence to enhance security around it.
“We will put up a fence and a good roof here so that the station will be secured. When you come here, it will be a different place,” he said.
The police post expansion is one of several development projects Ngogoyo has championed in the constituency through NGCDF.
He also pointed out the construction of new classrooms at Embulbul Primary School as well as a new laboratory at Embulbul Secondary School intended to improve students’ access to practical science lessons.
Area OCS Munini Musau, welcomed the expansion, describing the post as a safe place for people seeking help and not merely a facility for law enforcement.
Musau said the presence of an improved police post would strengthen interaction between officers and the community while creating a more conducive environment for handling security concerns and assisting vulnerable groups.
Kajiado North NGCDF Chair Elizabeth Muthoni urged residents to safeguard community projects, raising concerns over vandalism at the area’s ICT hub.
Muthoni urged residents to take ownership of development projects and protect public facilities from destruction, saying vandalism undermined efforts to improve services and deprived the community of important resources.
The launch comes as communities across Kajiado North continue to press for improved public infrastructure to keep pace with rapid population growth.
